Update for Friday 3rd February 2012
Ladies Introduction to Golf
We are delivering 3,000 flyers around our area and into Redwood now. Thanks very much to our Ladies who have carried out the drop.
Registration is on Tuesday the 14th February at 4.30pm and 5.30pm.
Nine Hole Golfers
We have had a group of men join up from Ascot. They play at 9.00am on Thursday mornings. We are keen to promote nine hole golf and had a good number playing previously. We now have times reserved as follows:
Tuesday Ladies 9.30am following the 18 hole players. Wednesday 9.00am. Thursday 9.00am. Friday 1.00pm
Just come along at those times and we will arrange play for you.
New Members
Welcome to the following Nine Hole Members: Ted Hodges; Ron Towner; Geoffrey Reeve; Richard Moses; David Clarke; Desmond Rowe; James Dickson. Also welcome to Noel Van Rhyn who joins as a Full Member.
Membership
We now have 595 members registered on Dot Golf following the closing date for payment of subscriptions on the 31/1/12. At the time of our annual report in July 2011 we had 756 members. This is a loss of 161 members and 22%. To keep a check on membership numbers you can log in to www.golf.co.nz and go to Play Golf, Club Directory, Canterbury Region, find the Club you would like to view then to Membership details. It is interesting to note that our two nearest neighbours at Waitikiri and Windsor are recording 492 and 587 respectively.
Play at other courses
Most of the courses around Canterbury are very mindful of the difficulties that we have faced and are only too happy to help out. Below are some of the specific offers. However you usually only have to mention that you are from Waimairi Beach to be offered play at reduced rates.
Clearwater/Russley
Lindsay Crocker, the GM at Clearwater, has kindly offered our members $30 green fees until the end of January.
Rod Gordon the GM at Russley has also offered the same deal.
Terrace Downs
Terrace Downs can offer $49 for green fees and a half share in a cart
Templeton
Secondary membership $425 to 31/8/12 see the GM Alister McCall.
Avondale
Secondary membership $465 to 30/9/12. Green fees of $10 Monday and Friday, $10 Tuesday a.m. Ladies, $13 Wednesday and $15 all other times.
Christchurch
They are pleased to offer $20 green fees and will provide secondary membership if you see their GM Struan Cain.
Kaiapoi
$10 green fees all week. You are welcome to play in their Saturday field, please phone to book first.
Amberley
Amberley can provide a Country Membership for those that live 25k’s away from them
for $195 to Feb 2013. This includes play in their Club days but not their Club Champs.
There is a small daily charge of $2-
Rangiora
They are happy to continue with the $10 green fees. You must book in if you wish to play Saturday on 03 313 6666.
Waitikiri
Waitikiri have offered short term monthly memberships at $85 per month for full, $75 for Women, $65 for mid week and other options.
Ellesmere
You are welcome on their Saturday Club day and only have to pay their match fee – both Men and Women.
Women can play on the Tuesday and pay match fee only.
They have a watering Tournament on the 4th Wednesday of each month with a $10 entry.
Coringa
Green fees are only $10 and they have a month by month membership available.
Harewood
Green fees on the Plains Course are only $10
Ashburton
Some of our members have played there recently and green fees were 410.
Everglades
Miles Ruddenklau has kindly sent an email offering our members a green fee of $13.
Staff
I am away on leave for a couple of weeks so the next update will be the 24th Feb.
